Kariobangi Slum Cinema screening
Saturday May 19th Slum Cinema has organized a nice screening in Kariobangi slums in Nairobi. Although some practical problems, all went well today. More than 200 people attended the screening.
"This time it was an open screening at the Kariobangi Community Center, a slum in Nairobi", Mike Wamaya wrote. However the screening started with our DVD player having some problems with the CD tray. No matter how but the team borrowed one to replace it.
Open screening Mathare
In 21th of April Kenyan Chapter coordinator Mike Wamaya plans an open screening in Mathare. The screening will be after a football tournament at the Kosovo grounds in the slums of Mathare, The time of screening is 18.45 - 19;45 p.m.
This area in Mathare was most effected during the post election violence in 2008.
During the screening also pictures will be shown of the violence there at that time.
Restart screening in Slums
Last year all digital equipment of the Kenyan Chapter Nairobi was stolen.
Still we don't know who was really behind this theft.
The impact of this brutal crime for the Chapter was big and it was also the reason of upholding all activities the end of 2011. After reorganizing the Chapter and responsibilities of the members, coordinator Mike Wamaya announced this week
new screenings in the slums coming month.
