MISSION
Basic Views Foundation is a media development organization, which trains disadvantaged young people in developing countries into professional photographers and video reporters. They become local producers of independent information for the benefit of their communities and also improve their own lives and those of their family and friends. Central tool are digital visual media through screening content (documentaries, videos, photo reports, stories and music clips) on large screens in the slums and distribute them via the Internet.
Access to independent information strengthens individual participation in the community and will promote local democratic processes. Basic Views Foundation develops sustainable local audiovisual projects, because important information at all times must be accessible to all strata of the population. With their experience and impressions in the slum they get local capacity in audiovisual productions. Young slum dwellers who inform local society.
In the countries BasicViews Foundation works exclusively with dedicated local partners to develop jointly a program, which the partners themselves continue independent as local Chapter after about a year of training, exercise and input. This it does by:
Screening in slums of relevant documentaries, video reports and other digital information by the local slum cinema teams
Professional and practical trainings for (disadvantaged) young slum dwellers in developing countries to become independent TV reporters and photographers a so contribute to local democratic processes.
Stimulate and participate in local production of independent digital news and information media to built income opportunities in the future.
