Slum Cinema Chapter Mali
Summer 2008 Slum Cinema was contacted by Jeanette Camara de Haas and her husband Abou Camara from Mali to join the international Slum Cinema network. In the southern city Sikasso the two manage a centre called Miriyawale, where they train children and youngsters all kind of vocational skills. Some of these skill are photography and video.
Now the centre wants to improve the multi media trainings and start producing local productions in pictures and video reports. The want to operate as an independent SLC Chapter.
Slum Cinema International will help them to improve the screening and production conditions.
On the short term they will join the network as a non-budget Chapter. In the meantime the two initiators and Slum Cinema International will work on a proposal for training and facility improvements.
Chapter Mali will work under the agreement that counts for every Chapter and along the ideas and principles of the international network. The local Chapter in Mali can use the SLC-Brands name to promote their activities and get more support. We look forward for the first production results of Chapter Mali.
