About us (BVF)

BasicViews is a non-profit organization based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

BasicViews is a foundation with a board, a director and a small support office in the Netherlands.
A dozen volunteers from the Netherlands supports the Slum Cinema projects in different countries. Slum Cinema is the brand name of the main international project of BasicViews in public.

In the project countries BasicViews work with local partner organizations.
Local partner Organizations are working independent on the common goals.
They participate in expanding the international information exchange, networking and marketing the Slum Cinema concept.

Till june 2011 BasicViews was supported by funds on project basis by some Dutch NGO''s. Partners in the same kind of work can be connected to the network as so-called non-budget chapters. They can show their potential for the network, while they enjoy all the benefits of the Network regarding the use of the name, reputation, content and international interactivity and exchange.
With sufficient local commitment and organization BasicViews can develop together with the local partner a plan to create a full local Chapter and search for a budget and develop plan for 12-16 months.

Partners in the project countries are autonomous and independent organizations. At their request BVF creates a start-up and develop them further through training. They start with local screenings, production of photography van video reports and seeking for funding.

Of the new local partners own initiative, organization and volunteering is expected. As soon as possible projects are completely independent runned by a local staff. Meanwhile the Chapters are online coached and supported by local specialists and the expertise of Basic Views Foundation.
